The registration for BlogOrlando (Sept. 27-29, 2007) is now live. If it doesn’t work, blame me. I coded it.

UPDATED 9/13/07: Just got a letter in the mail from Quoc Van to let his petition signers know that he collected over 4,600 signatures and will be on the primary ballot on August 26, 2008. So, now that he’ll be on the ballot show his some love and send some cash his way for the campaign. This also shows that my memory for numbers is off by an order of magnitude.
Original post from 6/11/2007:
If you’re in the 8th Congressional District in FL, consider taking the time to print out and mail the petition at Quoc Van’s web site to get him on the ballot without having to pay $10,000. He needs 45,000 signatures and I met him today when he showed up at my door asking for a signature. He was still upbeat even in the 94 degree heat and wearing long pants and sleeves. Our current congressman is Ric Keller [R]. Note that the numbers above are as I remember them so they could be off…
He’s a Democrat if that matters to you but I figure even if you aren’t a Democrat, helping get someone on the ballot that really wants it is what democracy is all about.
Since I work from home, I’ll be doing the ride from the College Park Starbucks to City Hall w/Mayor Dyer (details). I did this last year and it was a good time and beat being at work.
Also, from the city site:
As part of this event, Starbucks has agreed to partner with the City and offer free coffee at ALL Orlando area Starbucks locations to anyone who commutes by bicycle on the morning of May 18th, 2007.
For the full race report, see my training blog. For photos, see Flickr.

I read about what Shimano, Trek, Giant, and Raleigh are doing with their Coasting initiative a couple months ago. The idea is to make bikes for people that don't already bike.
Coasting is about making bikes that are easy to ride and not intimidating for someone who hasn't ridden a bike since they were a kid. Most are set up to allow you to stop flat-footed and some use Shimano's fancy shiftless hub so you don't have to worry about shifting.
Pretty cool to see an ad for this locally. I think Orange Cycle was one of the initial retailers in the area that was going to be part of Coasting.

I was checking to see when sunrise would be tomorrow due to the time change. Of course, common sense says it would be an hour later than it as this morning (give or take a few minutes). So, I clicked on Forecastfox to take me to Accuweather. They said 6:41 AM for today and 6:40 AM tomorrow. Wrong. So, I checked a few other sites. Here's the results:
Many other weather sites use Weather.com for their results so I'm glad they got it right. I don't know why I use Accuweather anyway since it is rarely ever accurate.

If you check out the February Brew News from Orlando Brewing, you can find not only a picture of my handsome, shiny head (and my MacBook) but read 261 of my finest words about the influence of the net on craft brewing. Thanks to Mike, John, and the rest of the gang at the brewery.
That's the Blackwater Porter I'm drinking in the photo. Luckily the photo session lasted long enough to have two of those.
Oh, and be sure to check out hailtheale.com for more beery goodness.

I haven't read any Harry Potter books, but odds say you have. So, go on and preorder it at Amazon.com:
Standard edition ($18.89)
Deluxe edition ($39.00 and should have nicer paper and cover or something)
